Hey Solo Travel Besties,
I've traveled to 45 countries, with more than 30 of those trips as a solo traveler—and I plan to keep exploring on my own. Ladies, there are a few important things to keep in mind when traveling solo, especially when it comes to staying safe.
On my last trip, I had a bit of a scare. I was walking back to my Airbnb from a restaurant when a man in a car started following me. Traffic forced him to keep moving, but he eventually turned around, cut me off, and said, "Hey sexy, where are you going? I just want to know your name."
And before you even go there or question it, I wasn't wearing anything that might suggest I was interested or a provoking—I was in sweatpants and a t-shirt. I kept walking, but that wasn't enough for him. He continued to follow me, trying to catcall. That's when I told him to back the $%!@# off. His response? "Oh, a feisty one."
That's when I pulled out my trusty personal alarm and hit the button. When he heard that REALLY loud alarm, his facial expression changed, and he took off so fast it was hilarious. The alarm is seriously loud, though—ladies, you need one of these. It's perfect for walking around, placing under your door, or keeping under your pillow. It's honestly the best Amazon find—because it’ll scare off anyone with bad intentions.
This all happened in Montego Bay, Jamaica, around 7 p.m. after dinner. I love Jamaica and I would go back anytime. It doesn't matter where you go; there can always be people who might pose a danger or cause trouble.
Get your alarm door stopper today. Use it for your hotel door at night and take it with you during the day! It's a must have.
